The human throat, or pharynx, is a muscular tube connecting the mouth and nasal cavity to the esophagus and larynx. It has three sections: nasopharynx (upper), oropharynx (middle), and laryngopharynx (lower). The throat plays key roles in swallowing, breathing, and vocalization, housing tonsils that help fight infections.
